10 original a cappella songs recorded with 60 singers from 3 guest choirs including Fire Choir, Queer Murga & a pop-up QT Choir. From odes to sunsets, trans solidarity anthems, gospel-inspired call and response to a cappella salsas, it is a dance between genres and moods, all for the love of harmony.

Music parts are freely available online for choirs, community & campaigns & the show can be booked as a solo, trio, or 9 piece with percussion plus Alex can work with your local choir, all levels & abilities to involve them in a concert in your area.

Composition

I've composed across instruments & genres, connecting stories old & new, catering for different audiences & objectives, whether rich, complex melodies & harmonic journeys or channeling simplicity to invite the public to join in.

I've written over 50+ songs for myself, 20 commissions plus a 2.5hr musical. I've facilitated the composition of 40+ collaborative songs in workshops & residencies

I've written contemporary classical blues jazz funk soul pop British Isles/Irish folk nufolk

Specially for: string quartets brass woodwind salsa percussion candombe & Uruguayan Murga

I have arranged vocally & instrumentally for all the above plus zamba samba milonga (tango) MPB cueca Canción Nueva Chilena tropicalía

I sing tenor A2 - F#5 and play classical guitar steel-strung guitar piano clarinet charango cuatro Venezolano congas bongos cajón djembe analogue synth samplers & sequencers.

I produce in Ableton 12 Suite using UAD plugins/preamps AnalogLab FabFilter Valhalla Melda Melodyne Soundtoys iZotope UVI Falcon Serum Pigments.

Workshops engage young people around trans/non-binary hxstory via storytelling & train teachers to leverage arts, hxstory & geography to do the same.

We asked: “If you were a goddex what would you be? What powers would you have? Over what human aspects you be custodian?”. Custom costumes, props & choreography were co-designed with the performers.

Fire Choir

Fire Choir taps into a rich repertoire of songs rooted in social change, British Isles and Irish folk from the present going back hundreds of years, and songs in multiple languages. Fire Choir take songs to the streets, show solidarity at demonstrations, community centres, movement organising events and local charities.

Alex brings a vast array of physical, vocal and breath warm-ups to ensure vocal health and longitudinal growth.

There are recovering opera singers, consummate folkies and complete newbies year round. You can expect around 50 to 70 choir members in each session.
